SHHHHH. It's Tax Season, and you're hunting for an Accountant.
We know how strenuous tax season can be. Especially when your situation isn't as simple as receiving just one T4. But while it's not necessarily easy, it's definitely worth knowing the ins and outs of your situation so you can claim as many of your expenses as possible, and know what you should be paying.
For example, did you know that if you have a gluten allergy you can claim the difference between gluten free food and regular food?
Were you aware that personal tax software is great for filing basic taxes, but not so great for more complicated filing — the kind that include rental properties or self-employment?
Are you up to date on what medical expenses you can claim, such as water filters, air conditioners, orthopedic shoes, and laser eye surgery?
And did you know that while a raise may bump you into a higher tax bracket, that doesn't mean all of your income is taxed at a higher rate? (For example, if you make $50,000 a year, only $6000 would be taxed at 22% — the other $44,000 is taxed at the lower 15%.)
It isn't your job to know all of these facts. But it is ours.
If you have several streams of income, or have had some major life events happen this past year (a marriage, starting a business, etc.) we'll be happy to make sure every expense is accounted for. And that's no small claim.
