Client Feature: Teresa Rennick, Financial Destinations Group

We recently had the pleasure of sitting down to chat with Teresa Rennick, Certified Financial Planner and Principal of Financial Destinations Group (FDG).

FDG is a full-service financial planning firm with a team of professionals, offering insurance, investments; group benefits; health & travel insurance and retirement and estate planning.  The FDG Team is committed to educating clients, hence the slogan “informed clients make good decisions”

Teresa was inspired to go into financial planning by her overall desire to help people, especially during times in a person’s life that can be tough or overwhelming. Teresa has a background in marketing, tax planning and bookkeeping. These specialties “came together to be a perfect fit for this career,” says Teresa.

Prior to Financial Destinations Group, Teresa spent roughly 25 years working in radio marketing, and—even before this—offering bookkeeping services to many companies throughout Alberta.

While looking for a career change in 2000, Teresa decided financial planning would be a great fit for her passion to help people and her skill set.

In her time at the office, Teresa most enjoys having the opportunity to see her clients succeed in their plans and their lives.

“Our business can be difficult,” she says, “because the retirement planning is only one part of what we do.  Protection along the way is essential—life insurance, disability, critical illness and things like that...It’s often very emotional for our entire team.  Our clients become like friends and family.

Teresa was originally referred directly to Terry St. Laurent—a Metrix Group LLP Partner—through a family member. They hired her immediately after their initial meeting and have been with Metrix Group LLP since.

“[Terry] is incredibly personable, she’s knowledgeable…and she makes people comfortable in a minute.

“I would never go anywhere else, and I would refer her knowing that my clients are going to be really well taken care of.”
